We know lots of you have been asking for a book club event for a long time. So,who better to work with, than London’s fastest growing book club, founded by our old friend Lucy Ellis.

Event Details

Hosted at the beautiful Second Home co-working venue, this is a book club with a difference. Our chosen book is Oenone Forbat’s debut title, Bad Influence, and we are very pleased to have Oenone with us for this event. She will be there to join in the group's discussions around the book and will be answering your questions during a Q&A session joined by Lucy Ellis and hosted by TCE founder Olly Haddock.

We have some amazing partner brands providing food and drink throughout the evening. Including welcome cocktails and mocktails to get those conversations started in style.

The event is open to all and, as always, you are very welcome to come on your own. We will be splitting guests into smaller groups to discuss the book and so it’s a great chance to meet new people in a relaxed atmosphere.

Tickets

If you want to avoid missing out, a first release of tickets is live now for Career’s Edit members. Just sign-up, or log in now and head to the Upcoming Events space.

Because this is a collab event with Lucy’s Book Club community a second release will then go on sale publicly later in the week. Giving you two chances to get your hands on a spot!

For those that are joining us, don’t forget to get your hands on a copy of the book and come prepared!

The Book

Oenone didn't set out to become an influencer. The word barely existed when she started posting on Instagram at university to document her 'fitness journey' after a toxic relationship came to a messy end.

In this humorous meditation on her digitised life, Oenone chronicles the pits and peaks of coming of age online. Grappling with modern-day issues on a public stage - from body image and personal boundaries to the limitations of online activism, Bad Influence examines what happens when your day-to-day reality becomes #content - and that #content pays your bills.

It asks: can you truly be authentic online? Can social media be a force for good? Is it necessarily bad for our mental health?

Written with wit, warmth and honesty, this is a candid account of what it really means to be an influencer, from someone still figuring it out: the good, the bad and the instagrammable.

You can grab a copy from all of the main retailers HERE.

OUR GUESTS

Oenone Forbat

Podcaster, influencer, bookworm and fledgling comedian Oenone Forbat is a bottomless pit of questions - a millennial in search of answers. Why is the world the way it is? Are our actions free-will or conditioning? Does using a menstrual cup mean you’re allowed to sometimes forget your keep cup?

Lucy Ellis

Founder of Lucy's Book Club. Lucy Ellis is an avid book-lover, who, after searching for ages for the type of book club she wanted to join in London, decided to start her own. The first book club had 17 people attend and, within 6 months, she has just sold out a 250-person book clubin the space of 1 hour. Her February book club sold out 150 tickets within 8 minutes of going on sale. The WhatsApp group chat, where the book club comms are held, has over 650 people in it and is growing every day.
